On Monday, May 14, young professionals gathered excitedly outside Cellar Wine Bar to discuss careers, life and even relationship advice learned from Kelly Cutrone’s Normal Gets you Nowhere. Apparently normal business hours was getting nowhere for the bar, which decided that day to be closed on Mondays! Luckily, right down the street Forest Room 5 beckoned with a bustling atmosphere and $5 house wines.

Once settled, the group of eight went around sharing fun facts about them – Sara Ross once did an indoor skydive in Park Meadows! – and getting into their favorite parts of the book. While her first release If You Have to Cry, Go Outside, And Other Things Your Mother Never Told You, focused heavily on career advice, with you guessed it, one of the major hints to never tear up at work; this book was Kelly sharing what she’s learned about life in general.

A favorite chapter of the group was Kelly’s focus on volunteerism. She begins by explaining her deep admiration for Eleanor Roosevelt and the former first lady’s generosity for her community. Ashley Pritchard summed it up, “Often PR professionals are so busy that taking the time to give back just doesn’t seem possible.” Well, the Young Professionals co-chair is hoping to change that with a PRSA volunteer event! Mark your calendars for Tuesday, July 10, to spend a few hours after work at Metro CareRing. More details will be shared soon right here on PRSAColoradoBlog.org!
