The Speed Pitching Experiment: Put Your Pitch to the Test
PRSA CoLab, November 3
1:30pm – 3pm

Think you’ve got what it takes to secure media coverage in five minutes? Try your hand at the PRSA CoLab with our Speed Pitching Experiment.  This interactive workshop combines the relationship development concept of the traditional PRSA Media Roundtable with the opportunity to pitch your story ideas and receive real-time feedback. The idea is a little like speed dating, except participants will be “courting the media” with a pitch and learning right away if a second date is an option!

Media participants include:
Julie Dugdale | 5280
Misty Montano | KUSA
Ryan Warner | CPR
Mike Taylor | ColoradoBiz
Laura Standley | 303 Magazine
Greg Griffin | Denver Post
Boots Gifford | Denver Business Journal
Ellen Gray | Colorado View Magazine
Rory Schmalzried | KMGH
Andy Voung | Denver Post
Ed Sealover | Denver Business Journal
Greg Nieto | KDVR/KWGN

In our profession, developing valuable relationships with the media benefits our efforts and helps us tell our clients’ and organizations’ stories more effectively. It is our hope that each participant will leave the workshop with another valuable relationship and a better understanding of what makes a good story for various outlets.

And now for the details…Each participant will have precisely five minutes to make his or her pitch to three different members of the media. As a part of a small group, each person will quickly pitch story angles to a media professional and receive constructive feedback. Senior PR professionals will also be on-site to “coach you” and provide helpful hints for pitching success. Pitch well and you might just land some ink or air-time for your story!
